Inventory monitoring of paints

The application

In the production of water-soluble paints, different raw materials are mixed to obtain the desired features and qualities of the end product. Until now it was difficult to quickly and efficiently provide the different production centers with information about the stock levels of the raw materials, since the production centers and storage tanks are located far away from each other. To improve this situation, a level measurement setup was first installed on every tank to allow continuous monitoring of inventory levels.

The solution

VEGASON 62 ultrasonic sensor in conjunction with VEGASCAN 693 signal conditioning instrument is the most ideal solution for sensor supply and remote enquiry. The Ethernet output of the signal conditioning instrument enables the transmission of inventories via the TCP/IP company network in real time. These data are available via a determined IP address with a standard browser (as for example Internet Explorer). In addition, this interface is parameterized to send e-mails or SMS, which automatically signal the falling below a certain minimum inventory. So, the paint manufacturer can access his stock of inventory at any time. And the supplier of the raw material can control its production and logistics according to the requirements.

The advantages

AdvantageNo more supply bottlenecks
AdvantageOptimal overview of supply
AdvantageGreater flexibility in the route planning of the supplier
AdvantageReduced installation costs (connection of the sensors via HART multidrop

The current tank stock levels are made available in the company network via the signal conditioning instrument VEGASCAN 693. When a level falls below the minimum limit, an e-mail is automatically sent to the supplier
