Mud production on platforms

Different soil conditions and raw material characteristics make different mud compositions necessary. Various solid substances and liquids must be combined in the right mixing ratio. In the economical production of mud directly on the drilling platform, the different base materials are stocked in large storage tanks of various sizes. The filling levels must be exactly and reliably monitored to ensure continuous production.

VEGAWELL 72 in liquid tanks

The liquid basis for mud is composed of oils or lyes which are stored in separate tanks. The levels in these tanks are measured with the cost-effective VEGAWELL 72 . This hydrostatic pressure transmitter is particularly suitable since the material composition of the individual liquids does not change. Its ceramic measuring cell, the PE-coated stainless steel housing and the chemically resistant suspension cable afford high durability. Due to its construction as a suspension pressure transmitter, it can be installed in the tank simply from above.

VEGAFLEX 62 in bulk solids tanks

The bulk solids as e.g. silicia or aluminium oxide, barite, cement, and binding agents are stored in tanks up to 3 m in height. VEGAFLEX 62 is the ideal sensor for these small measuring ranges. VEGAFLEX 62 operates according to the guided microwave measuring principle and is not affected by the physical properties of the medium, the process temperature and process pressure.

VEGAPULS 68 for highest demands

Contactless level measurement with the VEGAPULS 68 radar sensor offers additional reliability for level detection of mud raw materials due to its specially optimised technology for bulk solids applications. Accurate measuring results are delivered even if large amounts of dust are generated. Recurring maintenance is not necessary, as the sensor has no direct contact with the medium and does not require mechanical moving parts. The measurement is not affected by product characteristics such as e.g. granulate size, material cones or the bulk solid weight. Even the roughest of process conditions, like extreme temperature fluctuation and filling streamgenerated turbulence, do not influence the measurement.
